Dawn at the Pro/Expert Start
Carolyn & Kim Pre-Race
Whidbey Island Mudder - May 17, 2009
The Speedy Beavers and the Luna Chix spent a super fun ladies-only
weekend together. The Luna Chix hosted Katerina Nash, a pro xc racer
for the Luna Chix Team, for a race clinic at Whidbey this weekend.

The group went out on Friday to welcome Katerina to Seattle - starting out
with tapas at the Capitol Club, then off to dancing at the Baltic Room
and Chop Suey. With four hours of sleep under our belts, we left
Seattle early on Saturday to get to Whidbey Island for the clinic.

There were about 30 women at the clinic, which was a lot of fun and we
learned what to eat, how much to sleep and training tips - maybe we
should have benefited from that information before Friday night :)

Then the girls headed to a family cabin on Bush Point for carbo
loading, watching the beautiful sunset and getting a good night's
sleep. The race was a blast - this course is so much fun.

Dawn took second in Expert Women even after a week of road training for the
upcoming Sea to Ski race. Carolyn took 4th and Kim 9th in the very
competitive Sport 35+ category and Brooke placed 13th in the large
Beginner class.  All the Beavers pedaled hard and survived the hot
sunny day. We had fun supporting each other, the Luna's that raced,
and our other gal pals.
